UFC 283, the post-pandemic-era PPV event hosted in Brazil by the UFC, already has an interesting fight lineup to follow. It is now unofficially confirmed that homeboy Mauricio Shogun Rua is set to knock out Ihor Potieria on January 23, 2023 in Rio de Janeiro.

Mauricio Rua, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, has an impressive MMA career of 27 wins from 41 fights he has appeared in. But it seems the legend is getting old. Since 2019, the Brazilian has only managed to seal one victory against Antônio Rogério Nogueira by split decision. This fight will likely be the MMA legend’s last octagon appearance.

In his final appearance at UFC 274, the 2005 PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix champion lost the clash to Ovince Saint Preux via split decision. Rua and Ihor’s upcoming UFC 283 bout would be slightly in favor of Ukrainian Ihor Potieria.

Ihor Potieria (18-3-0) hasn’t been a great performer in the octagon, he currently has a double losing streak. The Ukrainian will take part in this match for the second time after taking part in ‘Dana White’s Contender Series’. Potieria lost his last fight to Kevin Lee by unanimous decision.

Although the Ukrainian has a huge age advantage of 14, Shogun is not an easy opponent to face as the Brazilian will have the home advantage and has plenty of experience in the ring.

This fight will be an undercard event of UFC 283, where the main attraction will be Deiveson Figueiredo’s flyweight title unification bout against Brandon Moreno. Their fourth battle will be a highly anticipated fight to watch.
