“That is ridiculous”
Brad Pitt wants to age gracefully

Brad Pitt has long been the sex symbol par excellence. But at the age of 58, he is already approaching retirement age. There’s no need to despair, he assures, especially since he’s just opening up a new field: the Hollywood star is launching his own skincare series.
Hollywood star Brad Pitt doesn’t want to struggle with getting older. “I don’t want to run away from getting older,” the 58-year-old said in an interview with the British edition of Vogue magazine. “It’s a concept we can’t escape and I’d rather see our culture embrace it with a little more open arms,” the actor said.
The starting point of the conversation is a new project to which the star of such films as “Fight Club”, “Inglourious Basterds” or most recently “Bullet Train” is dedicated. Pitt is actually launching his own skincare line.
It doesn’t seem embarrassing to him, as he reveals in the “Vogue” interview. “When I started, it seemed like you were already ashamed to appear in a commercial. It was accused of being sold out,” he explains when asked how he generally feels about these kinds of movie star ventures. “I think the hip-hop guys completely changed that. They not only made it okay, but also cool to spread your wings and try other things,” Pitt explains.
“Just grow old healthy”
Referring to his colleague Gwyneth Paltrow, who co-founded a luxury wellness and lifestyle brand with Goop, Pitt says, “I love what Gwyneth has done. She’s still a really, really good friend and she’s built this empire.”
The actor does not want to promise miracles for his own products. He rejects product promises such as “anti-aging”, ie counteracting natural aging, he explains. “This is ridiculous, a fairy tale.” Rather, it’s about loving yourself and treating yourself well. “Just grow old healthy”, is his motto.
Before starting a career as an actor in the mid-1980s, Brad Pitt broke off his journalism degree. When asked whether, in retrospect, he would have preferred this career path, he admits with a laugh. “I think I’m pretty happy with the way things are going. I wouldn’t have resisted, but I’m happy with my current job.”
“Family and friends are everything”
Still, Pitt says he would like to change a few things: “The older I get, the more I think about quality of life and use of time.” He wants to focus more on that. “I think a lot of people after the lockdown have thought about how we spend our time, that’s why we’re so busy with what we fill our lives with. And I think at the end of the day family and friends are what it’s all about” explains Pitt.
Maybe his ex-wife Angelina Jolie heard that too? Pitt still wages a bitter War of the Roses with her. Still, the two have six children together, three of whom are biological and three adopted.
