Angelina Jolie travels to Pakistan

In her role as UN ambassador, Angelina Jolie repeatedly draws attention to abuses around the world. Now the actress is going to Pakistan, where she promises help to those responsible for the ongoing monsoon rains.
Hollywood actress and UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie visits flood victims in Pakistan. According to “CNN”, the aid organization International Rescue Committee (IRC) said in a statement. According to other media, Jolie landed on Tuesday in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.
With her visit, the 47-year-old wants to draw attention to the humanitarian catastrophe that is worsening there. Continued monsoon rains of unprecedented proportions combined with melting glaciers will affect about a third of the country and about 33 million people. More than 1,500 people have already died, many of them children.
According to the report, it could take up to six months for water levels to drop – diseases such as malaria or dengue fever would cost countless more lives.
consequence of climate change
Jolie wanted to get a first-hand overview of the scale of the disaster so that she could “learn directly from those affected about their needs and the steps needed to prevent this suffering in the future.”
As a result of climate change, Pakistan is “one of the countries bearing the greatest cost of a crisis it did not cause,” the IRC writes. Through Jolie’s visit, it is hoped that the “international community – especially the countries that contribute most to CO2 emissions – will act and provide much-needed aid to the countries most affected by the climate crisis.”
Angelina Jolie is a longtime ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has been committed to humanitarian causes for many years. In May, for example, this union brought her to western Ukraine, where she visited the city of Lviv and met refugees there.
