“Sieg Heil” shouts at the concert: is Melanie Müller in the Nazi swamp?

Melanie Müller has already attracted attention in the past with dubious statements, for example about refugees. Now there are also video recordings showing right-wing slogans during a performance by the ex-jungle queen. But the Ballermann singer defends herself.
In 2014, Melanie Müller pulled a Hitler joke in the nightly program “TV Total”, four years later she agitated against refugees on Facebook and made fun of the security measures during the corona pandemic – RTL has had a video since the weekend before, which again begs the question: does the party singer possibly have something to do with the right-wing scene? Because you can see Melanie Müller surrounded by a right-wing crowd, as the video shows.
It’s only 25 seconds. 25 seconds that will leave you speechless. Melanie Müller on a small stage, in a tent, surrounded by men. It’s easy to see in the video: some people raise their arms in a Nazi salute and shout “Sieg Heil”. Melanie Müller surrounded by illegal far-right slogans. How did it come to this?
Melanie Müller has led – as she herself says – a changed life since the beginning of the year. Without her old partner Mike Blumer. But with a new man by her side: Andreas Kunz. We accompanied the couple with their children Mia and Matty to their big children’s birthday party last week.
Children’s birthday party with sweater “Thor Steinar”
What stands out: Andreas Kunz sometimes wears a “Thor Steinar” sweater. A brand that has a reputation for being worn by right-wing people. Two days later, an anonymous email is sent to us. Attached: mentioned clip in which Melanie Müller performs. The recordings show how she handles phone calls from people.
These photos are said to have been taken at a private birthday party. There would also have been hooligans from football club Lokomotive Leipzig. Some of these hooligans are said to be close to the far-right milieu. The video does not show that Melanie Müller contradicts the people who call “Sieg Heil” or breaks off the performance. How can that be? Why isn’t she saying anything?
We show the recordings to our colleague Daniel Spliethoff. He researched the scene for a long time and is familiar with right-wing structures. He also knows: Andreas Kunz, Müller’s new partner, should be well known in the scene: “Andreas Kunz has a wide corporate network. Some of these can be assigned to very shady companies. For example, the security company Asgaard, which has repeatedly right-wing extremists.”
Melanie Müller distances herself
Andreas Kunz also openly poses with right-wing populist Victor Orban. And: There are pictures of him and Melanie. “That would be the Sin City Boxing Gym, which is known to belong to the far-right extremist scene in Leipzig. Anyone who hangs out with such people is deeply rooted in this scene,” continues Daniel Spliethoff.
Meanwhile, Melanie Müller has made a video statement. She says: At first she didn’t hear the calls. But then: “I noticed that radical right and National Socialist ideas were being shouted. I told them not to do that. (…) After two or three more songs I had to stop. I didn’t realize that Lok Leipzig was for half hooligans, otherwise we would not have accepted the performance.”
Melanie Müller distanced herself from “far right ideas” in her detailed statement. There is a video of the concert cancellation! However, she was unable to give this at first.
Melanie Müller’s full statement:
“I was booked for an Oktoberfest in Leipzig on September 17, where I’d had two other gigs before, and I got to the booked gig – that was an Oktoberfest in Leipzig – really 15 minutes late because I’d had two gigs before. There was a small set, everyone was running around in lederhosen and dirndls and I didn’t even notice what kind of people were there right and left. And after the second song is (the) my photographer even noticed it, because it wasn’t really audible upstairs – it was so loud to the right and left. And when I’m in my performance mania, I don’t really listen to it. And then I really noticed that right-wing extremist and National Socialist ideas were being shouted, which I already pointed out to please don’t do that and two or three more songs, I really had to stop, I left the stage, said goodbye, I also tried not to take pictures left or right. I even got into the car relatively quickly and then just drove. It was not even clear to me at the time that videos were being made, what the proportions are, that half of Lok Leipzig was full of hooligans, otherwise we would of course not have accepted the performance. For me it was a very normal Oktoberfest, a normal event like any other. Of course, I really want to point out here that I have absolutely nothing to do with far-right cases or Nazis. We have many foreigners in our circle of friends, my personal trainer is black, our au pair is from Colombia. We have a Ukrainian nanny, so I don’t have any far-right ideas at all.
The question of what the ‘Box Gym Sin City’ is about is quite simple. Sin City trained me in celebrity boxing and I didn’t even know they had three or four hooligans with them. They trained me twelve years ago. Of course, the city of Leipzig is not exactly the biggest, when you see each other you say ‘good morning’, ‘good evening’ and ‘good afternoon’. I know that the handicapped children train and that even for free and I didn’t even think about it.
Melanie Müller has been in a relationship with Andreas Kunz since the beginning of this year.

We had a kids birthday party where a hopscotch was set up and my current partner came in a white shirt and had to unload the hopscotch too. She weighed 400 kilos and he was wearing a white shirt and simply asked the person who rented the Hopseburg to us if he had a sweater or a jacket or something, put on the sweater that just had Thor Steinar on it. And sometimes there’s stuff like that, you don’t react at all or you don’t see it at all because there are nine little kids breathing down your neck, the hopscotch had to be set up ASAP and he puts the sweater over it. Later, when we were pointed to it ourselves, we didn’t even realize how big it was.
Why didn’t I cancel in advance? Because I would say right now – I speak for a lot of artists – we are artists, they dress up, usually get ridden and get shaken up on stage and have a performance. Sometimes we don’t know what kind of people are in front of you. I have performances, there are evenings (around) three hours of small children, wondering: ‘What is going on here?’ I’ve had a gig before where you pick up a 17 year old and start dancing with him and you find out he’s only 17, he shouldn’t have come there at all. So: we are artists, we are booked. And if it has Oktoberfest on it, I know what to wear and what to do.
I want to point out again that I really have nothing to do with far right affairs, I actually stopped the show and had a couple of sleepless nights hoping this didn’t happen to me. But unfortunately these videos were passed on that way and of course I really want to sit back and ask for your understanding at this point. Since I also have two small children and I am currently divorced, everything is probably falling on my feet now.”
