Episode 7 of house of the dragon (the house of the dragon) showed that from this friendship that developed between Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cook) nothing will be left and everyone will do what is necessary to keep the Iron Throne.
Last week, the series made a 10-year time jump, meaning fans were treated to a host of new faces, including Emma D’Arcy taking on the role of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Olivia Cooke as Queen Alicent. Tensions quickly rose as it became known that war was approaching.
This week’s episode entitled “Driftmark” began with the Targaryens and Velaryons gathering in Driftmark for the funeral of Lady Laena (Nanna Blondell), Daemon’s late wife. That didn’t stop tensions between the two former friends from continuing.
Also, after more than half a season, the sexual tension between Rhaenyra and her uncle Daemon is finally something they are openly discussing with each other. It is also the young woman who confesses to her father’s brother her doubts about the legitimacy of her children that makes her vulnerable on her way to the heir to the throne.
This takes it for granted that his marriage to Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) was just a cover to fulfill his obligation to the king. Rhaenyra and Daemon stopped fighting their feelings. All is not happy for these two characters, however, as Aemond (Leo Ashton) stayed with Vhagar, Laena’s dragon, which eventually led to a fierce fight in which he lost one of his eyes.
Faced with this, their mother Alicent furiously demands justice for her offspring and tries to take the eye from one of Rhaenyra’s children, but all she gets is hurting Rhaenyra’s arm. Rhaenyra. Finally, aemond He tells his mother that the means of this act justified her ends: “I may have lost an eye, but I gained a dragon.”
Knowing that his marriage to Laenor would no longer benefit his plans, is the king’s firstborn Viserys I Targaryens she asks Deamon to marry her. “With you as my husband and prince consort, my claim would not be so easily questioned,” the young woman said in the link.
In Fire and Blood, the book this series is based on, it is simply stated that Laenor was killed by Qarl. but house of the dragon surprised the book readers by showing them that the character escaped thanks to a plan devised by Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen themselves.
This episode also allowed the public to witness the funeral of Daemon Targaryen’s wife, who was burned by her own dragon after having trouble giving birth to their third child. Eventually, Rhaenyra flees to Dragonstone with Daemon, leaving her father behind. King’s Landingwhose health is deteriorating.
