“Most humiliating moment”
Margot Robbie was ashamed of “Barbie” performance

In June, photos from the set of the movie “Barbie” are doing the rounds. Actress Margot Robbie and her colleague Ryan Gosling can be seen in neon outfits on rollerblades. For the 32-year-old, it was one of the most embarrassing moments of her life, she now reveals.

Margot Robbie has called the leaked photos from the set of her upcoming movie Barbie one of the most embarrassing and humiliating moments of her life. Paparazzi photos of the Venice Beach shooting in Los Angeles were released in late June. These showed the Australian actress and her Canadian counterpart Ryan Gosling in flashy, neon-colored outfits on roller skates. The snapshots provoked much ridicule and malice – especially on social media.

Robbie spoke about the photos on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. “I can’t tell you how embarrassed we were,” said 32-year-old Robbie. The two could be seen smiling in the photos, but inside she and Gosling “died” at that moment. “I thought, ‘This is the most embarrassing moment of my life!’” Robbie continued.

“It was crazy”

She had no idea the photos would make such a splash in the media, even though she knew she was being photographed. “It was great, hundreds of people watched.” It was immediately clear to her that her outfits “could stand out a little”.

In retrospect, Ryan Gosling has no problem with this performance on Venice Beach. According to his own statements, he was immediately enthusiastic about his appearance as Ken. When he first saw himself in the role, he thought, “Finally, it’s finally happening,” he told the industry magazine “Variety” in July. “It’s been going on all my life.” Gosling said he felt like he saw himself. And: “I felt seen. I think a lot of Kens will feel represented when they see that.” He does it “for the Kens of this world”.

Oscar-nominated director Greta Gerwig’s romantic comedy Barbie will hit theaters on July 21, 2023.
