The UK version of “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!” could come up with some very special candidate coupes this year. After speculation that singer Boy George would join the show, Mike Tindall is now also being talked about as a real royal.
It would be a sensation and a royal scandal at the same time: Mike Tindall would have to move to the British jungle camp. At least that’s what the newspaper The Sun claims. Tindall would be not only the first royal to appear in the UK version of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, but also the first-ever royalty on prime-time reality TV.
The former rugby player and husband of Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne, was set to fly to the Australian jungle next month. The “Sun” quotes an unnamed source as saying, “It’s a major coup.” Tindall has spent years “front row at some of the most important moments in royal history”. He will “certainly be discreet” on the show, but his “mere presence” means “the show is a must-see”.
Confirmation pending
The participation of the 43-year-old has not yet been officially confirmed. A voice artist for “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” stated, “We will announce our cast shortly before the broadcast.”
Mike and Zara Tindall have been married since July 2011. The couple has three children, Mia (8), Lena (4) and Lucas (1).
Cult singer Boy George would also move to the Australian bush. According to the “Daily Mail”, the frontman of the band Culture Club is paying a high price for his alleged appearance on the TV show. In fact, there is talk of the “biggest deal ever” in the show’s 20-year history. According to the report, the 61-year-old will receive £879,000, just over a million euros, for taking part.
