‘Scrubs’ producer accused of rape

American series creator Eric Weinberg is in the dock. He has been accused of sexual abuse in at least five cases. He is said to have lured dozens of young women to his home in Los Angeles for more than twenty years and then sexually assaulted them.
American screenwriter and producer Eric Weinberg, who worked on hit series such as ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Californication’, has been charged with rape and other sexual assault. The 62-year-old has been accused by five women that Weinberg allegedly abused between 2014 and 2019, the Los Angeles prosecutor said.
The accused used his Hollywood status to lure young women to his home under the guise of photo shoots, where he allegedly abused them, prosecutor George Gascón said. The charges include rape, forced oral sex and assault. Weinberg is due to appear in court at the end of October. He was initially released on bail of five million dollars (about five million euros).
Dozens of abuse cases in two decades
More than two dozen women described alleged attacks by Weinberg in conversations with the “Hollywood Reporter,” the trade journal reports. The first cases date back to 2000. The producer had already been arrested in 2014, but there were no charges at the time due to lack of evidence.
Weinberg has written and produced for numerous productions, including 100 episodes of the hit comedy Scrubs, starring Zach Braff as a young doctor through 2006. He also worked on series such as “Graves,” “Californication” and “Anger Management.” . He was nominated five times for the Emmy Television Award.
