Giants beat Arizona 6-5 thanks to Davis Double in 9th place

PHOENIX (AP) — JD Davis hit the RBI double that propelled his team into ninth place, Shelby Miller had a relieved 2 2/3 innings scoreless on his season debut and the San Francisco Giants batted 6-0. 5 for Friday the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Giants came from behind with two outs in the ninth against reliever Caleb Smith (1-3), who suffered the loss after giving up an unearned run. Mike Yastrzemski led the rally with a single down the line, and Evan Longoria equalized with a choice play after Arizona third baseman Sergio Alcantara hit the ball at second base, but it bounced into outfield.

Davis followed with a left-line double for Yastrzemski. Camilo Doval threw the ninth for his 25th save in 28 chances.

Alex Young (1-1) clinched the win after an inning of relief work.

Venezuela’s Wilmer Flores made it 3-0 with one run for the Giants. The Mexican Luis González 2-1.

For the Diamondbacks, Dominican Ketel Marte made it 4-1 with one run; Sergio Alcantara 4-1; Geraldo Perdomo 4-2, with a goal. Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera 3-1, with one run scored and two RBIs.
