He was a successful racing driver, but Ferfried Prinz von Hohenzollern is best known to the general public for his relationship with reality TV star Tatjana Gsell. Now “Foffi” died in a hospital in Munich.
Mourning Ferfried “Foffi” Prince of Hohenzollern. The former touring car racer died Tuesday night at the Grosshadern clinic in Munich. His close family circle confirmed this to both the “Bunte” and the “Bild” newspapers. He was 79 years old. The cause of death is unknown.
Ferfried Maximilian Pius Meinrad Maria Hubert Michael Justinus Prince von Hohenzollern was born on April 14, 1943 at Umkirch Castle in Baden-Württemberg, the youngest son of Friedrich von Hohenzollern (1891-1965), head of the former Princely House of Hohenzollern.
After law school, Ferfried devoted himself to a career as a race car driver and in 1966 he started regularly competing with a BMW in races in Europe. In 1969 he was accepted into the BMW works team. In 1971, together with Gerold Pankl, he won the famous 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
“Cinderella Becomes Princess”
However, he mainly received media attention through his relationship with reality TV star Tatjana Gsell in 2004, although the prince was still married in his third marriage at the time. Their liaison was apparently so interesting to the public that the broadcaster RTLzwei decided in 2006 to broadcast a four-part docu-soap about the couple with “Tatjana & Foffi – Cinderella becomes Princess”. However, their relationship was on the rocks again.
Ferfried Prince of Hohenzollern was married three times. In September 1968 he married Angela von Morgen for the first time. They had two children, but divorced in 1973. In April 1977, he married his second wife Eliane Etter. The two also had two children. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1987. In 1999, he made his vows to his third wife Maja Synke Meinert, and their marriage lasted until 2007.
