Despite a successful comeback from career-threatening Achilles surgery, 28-year-old Australian tennis star Daria Saville has faced another injury while playing against Naomi Osaka at the current Japan Open.

However, local queen Naomi made a big gesture towards Daria Saville’s injury with her surprised act of comfort on the pitch when the Aussie suddenly tripped on the ground while playing and eventually walked.

How did Naomi Osaka behave during Daria Saville’s injury?

Just 14 minutes into her first-round match in Tokyo, Daria Saville suffered a serious knee injury. Naomi Osaka ran to the Aussie as soon as she collapsed in excruciating agony to check on her, however, Saville eventually managed to get up, but she didn’t hesitate to end the fight.

It ultimately gave Osaka victory in her quest to secure another title in her trophy cabinet, but at the same time she expressed her deepest regret for the Aussie and wished her a speedy recovery from this horrific incident.

Saville, who was ranked 55th in the world at the start of this season, was considerably outside the top 500 at the time and unfortunately she would once again miss a long spell on the sidelines if the MRI of her knee reveals an ACL tear. Moreover, the Australian was also participating in her first competition after the US Open.

This discouraged her as she wanted to find a place to relieve herself from her disappointing trip to the final Grand Slam last year; on the contrary, her Japanese opponent revealed that Daria’s luck is not shining at the moment and, therefore, her injury has made the situation worse.

Daria Saville eventually made it to her feet, but she didn’t hesitate to end the battle with Osaka and after the match, Saville said on Twitter that she hoped the damage wasn’t done to her ACL and she also urged everyone’s prayer in Tweeter“Can we all pray it’s not the ACL, having an MRI tomorrow.”

Daria’s misery, however, has given her another career blow as records now show she is on the verge of falling out of the top 500 in the world rankings.

The media presented Osaka’s thoughtful decision as a gesture of true sportsmanship, and they all praised her quick action when Daria fell to the ground while returning the tennis ball to her court in their opening set.
