Coldplay postpones concerts
Chris Martin suffers from serious lung infection

Because Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has contracted a serious infection, the band has had to postpone concerts on their “Music of the Spheres” world tour until next year. The management did not give any details about the illness. But Martin was ordered to rest for three weeks.

British band Coldplay have postponed several concert dates of their tour. The cause is a serious pneumonia in singer Chris Martin, the band announced on social media and on their website. “It is with great regret that we have to postpone our upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo until early 2023. Due to a serious lung infection, Chris has been ordered by a doctor to rest strictly for the next three weeks.” the statement said.

According to the tour schedule, Coldplay would have played eight concerts in Brazilian cities from October 11 to 22. It will then only take place in Argentina on October 25. “We are working to capture the new data as soon as possible and will provide more information in the coming days,” Coldplay continued.

The band apologizes for the disappointment and inconvenience to everyone who was looking forward to these concerts. The musicians are “very grateful for your understanding during this difficult time when we have to put Chris’ health first”. Fans should keep their tickets – these are also valid for the newly scheduled dates.

No details about illness

Martin’s band members were “optimistic that Chris will recover after the mandatory medical break”. And further: “We look forward to resuming the tour soon”. A spokesperson for the band told “Billboard” that there was “no further information about Martin’s disease”. What it is exactly is unknown.

Coldplay are currently in the midst of their ‘Music of the Spheres’ world tour. In Germany, the band could not be seen live until the summer of 2022. In May 2023, the musicians will return to Europe – however, no further concerts are planned in Germany.
