The actresses Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz are best friends, the former now says in an interview. She is excited about the close bond with Diaz, who is about to celebrate a milestone birthday.
Hollywood star Drew Barrymore sees a ‘soulmate’ in her colleague Cameron Diaz. “She’s my mirror, my better self. I’ve never felt such a connection with a person,” 47-year-old Barrymore of “Bild am Sonntag” said Tuesday on the occasion of Diaz’s 50th birthday. “It’s a gift to have this woman in my life.”
The two actresses made the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ movies together. The friendship between the two apparently knows no bounds. “Cameron has my house key, she waters my flowers when I have to leave. She is a nanny and lifesaver for me. Cam was there when I was down, held my hand in my worst moments, held my hand in my best moments we celebrated together,” said Barrymore.
They met in the 80s. “I was 14 working in a coffee shop, she was 16 and started modeling. She walked into the shop and we became friends.” As mothers they would have the same problems. “These are full subjects.” But both also love to travel. “We’ve been to Hawaii, the Hamptons, South America and the Caribbean together. We even sleep in the same bed,” Barrymore said.
Diaz has helped her to act more sustainably. “I don’t use plastic bags for Cameron anymore. And I don’t drain the water when I brush my teeth,” Barrymore said.
