Alec Baldwin settles with family camerawoman

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dies while filming ‘Rest’. There’s a real bullet in actor Alec Baldwin’s gun. Now, the 64-year-old agrees with her survivors. Filming continues and Hutchin’s widower is also involved in the project.

Hollywood star Alec Baldwin has reached an out-of-court settlement with the deceased’s family after camerawoman Halyna Hutchins’ fatal shooting during a western shoot. Baldwin and the other producers of the western “Rust” have now revealed that. The film is now slated to begin shooting in January 2023. Hutchin’s widower Matthew, who sued Baldwin in February, will produce the western and drop his lawsuit.

“We are grateful to everyone who helped resolve this tragic and painful situation,” Baldwin said on Instagram. “Everyone has always been concerned with what’s best for Hutchin’s son,” added the actor, who co-produces and stars in Rust. Matthew Hutchins said he did not “blame or blame” Baldwin or the other producers. “We all assume that Halyna’s death was a horrible accident.” Now “Halyna’s latest work” must be appreciated. No compensation for the widower and his son was mentioned. According to US media reports, Hutchins will receive a portion of “Rust”‘s earnings in his role as a producer.

The western is supplemented by the original protagonists. Joel Souza, who was injured in the incident nearly a year ago, continues to direct. The deal has yet to be approved by a court.

Baldwin blames Armorer

Baldwin accidentally shot and killed 42-year-old cameraman Hutchins with a prop pistol while filming the low-budget western in New Mexico on October 21, 2021. The revolver was apparently loaded with at least one real bullet. It is not yet clear how this could have happened. Baldwin has repeatedly denied any responsibility. The 64-year-old emphasizes that he was told that the revolver was “cold”, that is, that there was no live ammunition in it.

In an August interview with CNN, Baldwin blamed on-set gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and assistant director Dave Halls for handing him the gun. “There are two people who have not done what they should have done,” says the actor, known for films such as The Hunt for Red October and The Blonde Temptation. A number of civil lawsuits have been filed over the deadly shooting. Authorities have not yet filed charges against those involved. However, the public prosecutor does not rule out the possibility that this could still happen.
